Folkestone & Hythe Sustainable Futures Forum – Sat 29th April 2023

Connect – Be Inspired – Collaborate; to create a more sustainable futures for our district.

On Sat 29th April 2023 the Folkestone & Hythe Sustainable Futures Forum bought together businesses, community groups and individuals to deliver inspiring talks and ideas from local professionals, and to provide a space to encourage conversation and new partnerships.

Hosted at The Burlington Hotel, the event consisted of 3 sessions, each comprising of TEDx style talks followed by range of breakout activities including speaker Q+As, guided discussions, networking, workshops, and opportunities to find new partnership, support and collaboration opportunities.

This event proved that there really are so many great initiatives going on locally – both large and small, and across both business, community – yet there are still many challenges and uncertainties many of us face when it comes to implementing these changes and opportunities we wish to see become a reality.  This is why this event was designed to create the opportunity to attendees to come together as a community; to share knowledge, resources, and inspiration.

This was an event that provided the opportunity for anyone interested in sustainability to join the conversation and be a part of creating new partnerships and collaborations.  This is a challenge that needs joined up thinking at every part of the chain – so whether attendees were someone just taking their first steps on their sustainability journey, an SME aiming to reduce their carbon footprint, a local group tackling green issues, or an ESG environmental expert, the event invited EVERYONE to be a part of the conversation and commitment to change.

This event was bought to you thanks to the support of the Carbon Innovation Lab; an initiative lead by a voluntary local steering group, and supported by Folkestone & Hythe District Council.  Following this event, the council will be providing funding and support to help implement and further develop promising featured projects within and for the benefit of the community.
